WASHINGTON – The Vodafone Foundation and mHealth Alliance have set a Dec. 31 deadline for entries to the Vodafone Americas Foundation Wireless Innovation Project and the mHealth Alliance Award.

The competition features more than $650,000 in prizes and a three-year partnership with the Vodaphone Americas Foundation, with winning solutions selected in the fields of education, health, access to communication, economic development and the environment.

"So far, we've received very unique and exciting solutions, and we're encouraged by the caliber of the applicants who have submitted proposals," said June Sugiyama, director of the Vodafone Americas Foundation, in a press release. "This is the next generation of wireless innovation that can make a critical impact for problems facing millions of people around the globe."

Projects considered for the competition should have global implications and be ready for an advanced prototype or field/market test during the award period. Winners will be announced at the Global Philanthropy Forum in April 2012.
