2011 mHealth Summit Exhibit Hall: bigger than ever

By Diana Manos, Senior Editor
The theme for this year's mHealth Summit is "BIG." The exhibit space jumped 400 percent over last year and includes about 300 exhibitors, covering 30,000 square feet, said Richard Scarfo, director of the mHealth Summit at the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH), the non-profit that produces the annual event.

Partnering Sponsor Verizon Wireless claims the largest booth title (1,200 square feet) and will greet attendees as they enter the hall, Scarfo added.

The Exhibit Hall also includes a 1,600-square-foot Digital Media Pavilion. News, interviews and content will be streamed live from this social media networking center, extending the summit to those not attending, Scarfo said.

Other pavilions on this year's show floor are expected to provide an in-depth look into the advances percolating in healthcare IT and will added excitement, said FNIH show planner Bridgid Myers.

The four pavilions featured on the floor this year are the:  National Institutes of Health Pavilion, Qualcomm Wireless Health Pavilion, mHIMSS HIT mHealth Vendor Pavilion and StartUp Mobile Health Pavilion.

The mHIMSS HIT mHealth Vendor Pavilion joins the 2011 mHealth Summit with a showcase of innovative and beyond-the-edge technologies that are impacting mobile health, said Tom Sharpe, vice president of marketing at HIMSS.

"HIMSS is excited to be at the forefront of mobile technology by bringing innovation, technology and solutions together under one roof," Sharpe said.

The Qualcomm Wireless Health Pavilion will have 44 companies associated with Qualcomm showcasing their products.

A cornerstone of this year's exhibit floor, the StartUp Mobile Health Pavilion, will showcase 40 innovative seed and early stage companies impacting mobile health. The pavilion is a collaborative effort developed by Blueprint Health, Healthbox, Rock Health and StartUp Health.

"We're at the beginning of a complete transformation of the health and wellness sector, and it will be entrepreneurs and startups that usher in the revolution," said Steve Krein, co-founder of Startup Health.
